Exhibit Highlights

The Woodworking Station is a hands-on space where makers learn to shape, build, and create using traditional hand tools.

Designed for safe, supervised exploration, this station introduces children and families to the fundamentals of woodworking without powered equipment. It’s all about understanding materials, working with intention, and discovering what’s possible with patience and practice.

What You’ll Experience

Makers can measure, mark, sand, assemble, and finish simple wood projects using hand tools like clamps, mallets, hand saws, files, and sandpaper. Projects might include small builds, decorative pieces, or functional creations designed to grow confidence and skill.

Clear instructions and example builds help guide beginners, while open-ended options encourage experienced makers to experiment and customize their work.

Why It Matters

Woodworking teaches planning, spatial reasoning, and problem-solving in a deeply tangible way. At the Woodworking Station, children learn how raw materials can be transformed through care and craftsmanship.

Working with hand tools builds focus, patience, and respect for both the process and the tools themselves. Parents get to watch kids slow down, think through challenges, and take pride in creating something solid and lasting.
