Exhibit Highlights

The Sewing Station is a creative corner of the Maker Lab where ideas are stitched into reality.

Using fabric, thread, and imagination, kids and families can explore sewing as both an art form and a practical life skill. From simple hand stitching to beginner machine work, this station invites makers of all ages to slow down, focus, and create something truly their own.

What You’ll Experience

This space introduces sewing in an approachable, confidence-building way. Makers can design soft projects like pouches, plush creations, patches, or wearable accessories while learning basic techniques along the way.

Guided prompts and sample projects help spark inspiration, while open-ended materials encourage experimentation. Whether it’s a first stitch or a refined design, every project is uniquely personal.

Why It Matters

Sewing builds patience, problem-solving, and fine motor skills while encouraging creativity and self-expression. At the Sewing Station, children learn how ideas become tangible through planning, persistence, and practice.

They also gain an appreciation for how everyday items are made, fostering respect for craftsmanship and empowering them to fix, alter, or create things on their own. Parents get to see confidence grow with every finished seam.
