Exhibit Highlights

The Leatherwork Station invites makers to work with one of the oldest and most durable crafting materials, leather.

Using simple, hands-on tools, kids and families can design and assemble leather projects that are both functional and personal. This station blends creativity with craftsmanship, showing how thoughtful design turns raw materials into something built to last.

What You’ll Experience

Makers can cut, punch, fasten, and decorate leather using beginner-friendly tools like hole punches, rivets, snaps, and stamps. Projects may include keychains, wristbands, small pouches, tags, or custom accessories.

Clear examples and guided steps help first-time makers feel confident, while open-ended options encourage experimentation with patterns, textures, and finishes.

Why It Matters

Leatherwork builds precision, patience, and problem-solving skills while introducing kids to material durability and design thinking. At this station, children learn how careful planning and steady hands create strong, usable objects.

The process encourages pride in craftsmanship and an appreciation for items made to be used, repaired, and shared. Parents get to see kids develop confidence as they transform a tough material into something uniquely their own.
